Family owned since 1910, Château l'Epine is located in the north-east side of the St Emilion appellation. This tiny estate of only 2.70 ha lies on an ancient and atypical terroir of "black sand" which gives pronounced aromas of red fruits with a truffle twist.
The 2.70 hectares are divided into 9 different parcels within the St Emilion appellation. The vineyard is carefully worked manually and in in the traditional way with an emphasis on natural treatments to preserve the biodiversity. So welcoming is the environment, that occasionally hens can be spied in the vineyards.
Fermentation takes place in cement vats then the wine is aged for 15 months in 30% new oak and older barrels.
Grape: 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon

Food Match: Ideal with a beef wellington, or mature cheddar
Closure: Natural Cork
