Eye: Delicate golden yellow
Nose: Minerality, stony, fresh apple, pear, quince
Palate: Exciting on the palate. Complex, mineral, salty and multi-layered. The fruit alternates with the delicate acidity. Not the Riesling you would expect. Unusual and yet so familiar. Long finish.
Food pairing: Fried or poached freshwater fish, crayfish with peas,
Drink: The Trittenheimer Apotheke is also only released one year after bottling. After that, however, you can wait another five years or more. Limited to 1000 litres
The wine: It's not just the vineyard where the grapes grow that is spectacular. The vineyard is located behind the former Trittenheim railway station and can only be cultivated by hand. Single-pole training, ungrafted vines and many terraces - not easy to cultivate, but the work is worth it. The second highlight of this wine awaits the grapes in the cellar. A 1000 litre granite barrel is ready for ageing. The wine is fermented in it with a small proportion of berries and remains there until shortly before bottling. The stone adds another salty component to the minerality of the slate
