Why we offer this to you ...
Orhora is the second white wine that Olivi started producing. After we got impressed by Coreno we were very curious to see what this wine could be like - it had to fit big shoes to co-exist next to Coreno. It did! Slightly fresher than his brother this wine provides a perfect balance for us between full body and a fresh wine.
For us Orhora is the perfect companion for fish and chicken dishes.
Its particularity is due to the position of vineyard it comes from, situated on the top of the hill at 430 metres a.s.l. with a Nord-Eastern exposition.
This vineyard is the first to see the new born day and to receive the caressing light of the sun rays. The grapes are hand-picked early in the morning and then immediately brought and worked in the winery.
What does it taste like ...
Ohora is round, complex and fresh at the same time, with a good structure and acidity. It has a nice long finish.
In the nose and taste you find pear, citrus fruits as well as fine herbs.
What is it made of ...
Verdicchio (80%), Sauvignon Blanc (10%), Viognier (10%)
Vinification : The most of the single varieties is fermented separately
Ageing : The Verdicchio is partly barrel-fermented and partly fermented in stainless steel tanks, while the Viognier and the Sauvignon Blanc are both barrel-fermented. The barrels are all used, the ageing of the wine in barriques and stainless steel lasts about 5 month. The ageing in a bottle lasts minimum 2 months.
