Weingut Kirsten
This winery is located in one of the best locations along the Mosel river. It has vineyards with an incline of up tp 86% requesting hand work only. Bernhard Kirsten is know to consequently ensure the quality of his wines not only in the cellar but mainly in the vineyard. Rigid pruning and picking of the grapes when they are most aromatic are the main criteria of his work. This results in wines that express the Mosel characteristics perfectly.
Even his dry wines do not lose the typoical fruity aromas of the Moselriesling. For us his style so far is unmatched.
von Geldern Pur
Developed by accident when Bernhard forgot to stop the fermentation this wine is fermented all the way leading to residual sugars of only around 5,8g/l. But because of his way of making his wines from very ripe grapes and givinh it enough time on the yeast Bernhard managed to create a wine which is incredibly dense and creamy with a finish that just never ends.
Among our customers and friends this wine quickly became a super hit. Golden in color, amazing fruit aroma of apple and peach and smooth on the palatte.
The 2015 Pur was handpicked and fermented and aged in used oak barrels (barrique). It is dry with only 5,8 g/L sugar, 13 % by volume and 6,5 g/L acid.
This wine is a dry late harvest from one of the best locations at the Mosel (Klüsselrather Bruderschaft). The grapes grow on a south facing steep hill with slightly weathered slate and very little real soil (forcing the roots to go down really deep this leads to a very elegant and juicy wine despite of being a dry wine.
